Environmental Contamination Investigation
Sub-surface investigation to detect contaminants in the area.
Ground Penetrating Radar is a great tool in sub-surface investigation supporting both Phase I and Phase II environmental investigations and audits.
✦ Utilizing GPR to clear borehole locations prior to drilling or installing groundwater monitoring wells is very effective.
✦ Utilities and objects discovered during the GPR scan can then be “pot-holed” allowing project engineers and/or geologists to safely drill without encountering underground lines or buried objects.
✦ In addition to locating both metal and plastic underground water, sewer, gas and electrical lines, GPR can also be effectively used to locate buried drums and waste pits.
✦ This is a common occurrence at many Phase 1 audits and investigations where underground storage tanks and piping is “rumored” or known to be located beneath the project site but the location has been paved over.
✦ A GPR scan can “pin-point” the locations of the distribution lines and USTs.
✦ Depending on soil conditions , GPR can also be effective in determining depth to groundwater, fill materials, impacted zones and bedrock.
